If the March 14 U.S. Future Stars National Championships in Colorado are a sign
of things to come, then the following boxers should fare well in this week's
Golden Gloves National Tournament of Champions in Grand Rapids.
Here is a list of boxers who won championships, plus three others to watch:

Louie Byrd
• Hometown: Denver
• Age: 17
• Years boxing: 8
• Club: Colorado-New Mexico
• Weight class: light flyweight
• Highlight: Byrd stopped Fabian Cervantes of Ableta, Calif., in the third round of
their U.S. Future Stars National Championship bout.

possible since Manriquez also has qualified.

• Years boxing: 3
• Club: Kansas City
• Weight class: heavyweight
